What’s The Process?
Theory
You have 1 hour & 30 minutes to answer 100 multiple choice questions. The questions are broken down into 4 categories each with 15 questions which cover the following: Road procedure, traffic signs & signals, car control, pedestrians, mechanical knowledge, driving test, disabilities, the law, publications & instructional techniques.. You will also be required to complete a hazard perception test.
We supply online software and reference books to all our Trainee Instructors to guide them through the steps to ensure a first time pass.
Driving Ability
This test last for 1 hour and is similar to the current driving test for learner drivers. Where possible you will be driving in various road and traffic conditions including motorways and dual carriageways. You will also be required to demonstrate a number of manoeuvres as well as independent driving where you will be asked to follow traffic signs or directions given from a sat nav.
All in car training is carried out on by our approved Trainers. In car training manual and reference notes also supplied.
Instructional Ability
This test generally takes around 1 hour. A DVSA examiner will watch you delivering a client centred driving lesson to one of students either a learner driver or full licence holder. You will be marked in 17 areas of competence which are grouped into 3 categories. These are lesson planning, risk management and teaching and learning strategies.
All Trainees will receive training aids to help deliver a driving lesson. In car training will be delivered by one of our approved Trainers.
Once you have navigated and successfully passed all 3 parts you are ready to start your new career as an approved driving instructor.
