The training I have received from Go Instruct has been exemplary, I met Richard for my part 2 training, I was nervous initially because the information I had received from My four wheels wasn’t very clear on what was to be expected, from the word go. Richard made contact with me and fully explained what was to happen and how the day would play out. I felt that it was a very productive day and I learnt a great deal that really helped me get through my part 2
After successfully passing my part 2 I then asked if I could have the same  trainers for part 3, again I was given Richard, throughout the training he maintained professional and friendly and he helped me through the struggles and concerns I had, during my training. I had the opportunity to meet April, who reassured me not to over think things and showed me a demonstration of a briefing with Richards help.  All the training sessions I received were  really useful and helped me prepare to go on to my trainee licence,  I initially went with  company on a trainee licence who was near to where I lived. Unfortunately they didn’t get the work for me so I called Local Driving School and asked if they would take me on, from that moment I felt valued and reassured that any help I required would be given without question. 
Overall the experience I had with my trainers and Local Driving School was one of which could only be described as excellent.

I had investigated becoming a driving instructor some years ago with a well-known driving school but was put off by their attitude towards me as they just didn’t seem interested at all. Quite recently my wife passed her driving test with the help of Local and had nothing but praise for them which rekindled my interest in becoming an instructor myself. I called Local and from the outset felt welcome and that they were just as interested in training me as I was to be trained.

My trainers April and Richard are extremely knowledgeable and had a range of different techniques to help me find a way in any of the aspects that I was struggling with. I’m now looking forward to starting my new career with a franchise with Local, without their professional and warm attitude along with the expert tuition from two experienced, friendly and approachable instructors I doubt I would be realising my dream.

Successfully passed my standards check at Rotherham Test centre thanks to April.  I contacted April and asked if she could meet me and roll play as a student and observe if I was doing my job properly which she was happy to do.
We had a short chat in car and April asked how I wanted to conduct my standards check. I’d given this plenty of thought but ultimately I wasn’t really sure. We agreed on junctions approach and emerge and took it from there.
We drove for approx 1 hr with 1 or 2 interruptions to discuss areas April thought I could improve on. Following April’s advice and given we met a few weeks in advance of my standards check this gave me time to practice a few changes.
Day before standards check I took my pupil out and we did a mock test. This showed up some faults- these faults I decided could form my topics for standards check ie spiral roundabouts.
April’s help and advice  was in my opinion the way to go for me.
I would highly recommend taking help advice and support from April- as we all know a standards check is a worrying time for instructors and a friendly shoulder to lean on helps

I did my initial 40 hours training with another training company. Upon completion I felt I would benefit from being able to enhance my training by going on a trainee license. I am now with hindsight so thankful I made this decision and sourced my own franchise which also had ORDIT registered trainers.
This is where I met April and Richard which I am so grateful I did.
April initially started my 20 hours supervised training and it immediately was clear to her that I had been trained to the old style PST test and not the new standard check style which has it transpired had been brought in the December before I started my training.

April and Richard then set about giving myself remedial training to get me to the correct level for my part 3 test.

Their knowledge was second to none and even when I wanted to give up they were so positive and encouraging, without these two fabulous trainers I am in no doubt I would not now be a DVSA Approved Driving Instructor.

Thank you for all you’ve both done to get me into a career I love.

“I was recommended to April at Local with regards to training to become a driving instructor. I found the Part 1 very straight forward in passing but the part 2 was very different to what I imagined. In my initial drive I was shocked to discover how out of date my driving techniques were along with my knowledge of the Highway Code.  With April’s knowledge and her way of training I was able to retrain my driving style to meet the standard required by the DVSA. The hardest part was preparing for my Part 3, I didn’t realise how much time and effort was required at first, although my trainers kept telling me.  Richard my trainer did the bulk of my final stage of the training but with a sizable input from April. Both were very supportive and encouraging  in their approach to my training requirements, without their expert knowledge I wouldn’t be where I am today. I was lucky enough prior to my Part 3 to experience a test situation as I was the trainee used by Richard and April for their ORDIT exam. April was friendly and another expert trainer like Richard. My support from Local throughout my training was great, especially as the final exam style was changed by the DVSA just before I finished my training. So why become a Driving Instructor? ….. After working for over 30yrs in magazine publications, the time had come for a new challenge. 
The parts 1 and 2 are very similar to the present driving tests that pupils undergo, just a bit more intense. Part 3 is the hard part… instructing. I had two mentors April and Richard, both very knowledgeable and professional and guided me through the process, the hard part for me was I was training during the crossover period from the old style part 3 test and the new client based test…… but with their help I qualified and I am now part of the “Loca Drivng School” franchise team and work self employed in the Doncaster area.
Recently I had to undergo a DVSA standards check, every instructor has to do this every few years and so I decided to get some further coaching from April to ensure that what I was teaching was to the required standard and I passed the assessment with no problems.
The reward in being an instructor for me is knowing I’m teaching people of different ages a skill that will be with them for all of their lives, I passed my driving test in 1983 and can still remember the instructor, car and that great feeling of no more public transport.

The process to join Local was straight forward and hassle free and I feel like the company is investing in me rather than me investing in them. All of the staff in the office, especially Stephen, have been extremely helpful and have been in contact with me more times in my first 4 weeks than Bill Plant did in 9 months during my training. I have been receiving my additional 20 hours of training with Local and it is of a very high standard and I can’t praise my trainer Richard enough for his continued support. I was also worried before joining Local, having heard stories about other nationwide driving schools, that I wouldn’t be sent enough pupils to be able to pay my franchise fee but I now have 17 pupils on my books after 4 weeks and I know that there will always be more pupils available to me in the future.
